too many kid chefs
A task I’ve set for myself is helping my kiddos develop their own independence, especially in the kitchen. I’ve spent a lot of time and effort helping them grow into healthy eaters—still working on that!—so now I feel it’s a good time to help them be more independent in that department. Plus, they love it!
From learning how to make their own sandwiches and crackers for snack boxes to preparing an easy pasta dish or a refreshing pasta salad (a home favorite), and finally to baking some yummy, healthy celebratory muffins, all of these have easy-to-follow recipes you can find online. If you don’t have the time to search, just ask your AI buddy for recommendations.
Here are some online resources to help you cook with kids:
America’s Test Kitchen Kids
Offers a wide variety of kid-friendly recipes, organized by age group and difficulty level.
Super Healthy Kids
Features healthy recipes that are easy for kids to make with a little guidance.
BBC Good Food Cooking with Kids
Provides simple, fun recipes that kids of various ages can help with.
Involve your children according to their ages and skill levels, and don’t forget to have them help with the cleanup. With food and snacks ready, a clean kitchen, and some new skills under their belts, you’ll have successfully filled an hour or two with productive activity and good training for the new school year!
Again, I’m just another parent loving my time with my kids and trying not to go stir-crazy at the same time.
