A.I. it ‘till you make it

The long summer holidays can be a a fun and challenging time for parents. It’s great for everyone when that break comes from the daily routine of school and activities that you feel absolutely fed up with but then what happens when within a few hours your kids need entertainment and activities and look to you for answers?! Thankfully, we live in the AI times when we can use this awesome tool for absolutely everything, so why not for this?

Personalize Learning and Play

AI can definitely personalise all the experiences. By specifying your child's age and interests, you can generate a wide range of activities that are both engaging and educational. Whether your child is fascinated by dinosaurs, outer space, or creative arts, AI can suggest relevant books, interactive games, or hands-on projects that cater to their curiosity.

Also for those younger siblings, AI can recommend activities that develop motor skills, such as craft projects or simple science experiments. Older children might enjoy more complex challenges, like coding complex math activities or building models. The key is that these suggestions are not one-size-fits-all; they’re customised based on your child's unique interests and developmental stage.

Create Structured Routines

Children thrive on routine, but maintaining one during the summer can be tricky. AI can help by generating daily schedules that balance learning, play, and relaxation. For example, we prompted to start the day with a short exercise session (if the heat creeps up we stick with indoor animal yoga or some other similar stretching silliness), followed by some educational activities when we use online sources to find an abundance of print outs, and wrap up with a creative task or reading session. These routines can be adjusted to fit your family’s lifestyle and vibes, keeping your kids busy and you too! So when that screen time kicks in for you to have a breather - the guilt is relieved with all this lovely engaging time you’ve given them beforehand!

Explore New Topics Together

Summer is the perfect time for children to explore new interests or dive deeper into existing ones. AI can act as a guide, introducing your kids to new subjects in a way that’s both fun and educational. Whether it's discovering a new language, exploring basic robotics, or getting a head start on next year's school curriculum, or just even polishing the year before, AI can provide resources and activities that make learning feel like an adventure. You just need to keep an open mind and do your research on what your kid is into!

AI-driven educational platforms often include interactive lessons, quizzes, and games that adapt to your child’s progress, ensuring they’re challenged without getting frustrated. This type of adaptive learning keeps the experience fresh and encourages kids to take charge of their own learning journey.

Don’t stick to the screen

Using AI can be an awesome tool to schedule routines, find resources, get ideas and fill those long days up. You can customise your activities whether your little girl is into unicorns and your older into football. Moreover I find that this way I can plan in some screen time that is relaxing and some that actually provides interactive educational time, but doesn’t make your little ones square-eyed!

See below for some resources and I promise you this - I have NOT tried and tested all of them!!! Instead I asked Chat GPT for some resources…

I am also a mum of two and sneaking this tiny slot of writing time in between a playdate and a trip to the vet - eesk!
